My Favourite Butterfly walks - call for assistance

Wilts Branch Committee intend to compile and publish a butterfly walks book consisting of members' favourite walks in the county. This would involve up to 50 walks of various kinds involving diverse areas and species of butterflies and day-flying moths.

The publication should be a joint venture of the entire membership, so please will you put on thinking caps and send me a description of your favourite walk or walks – the only stipulation is that I will reserve the right to shorten and edit your material as I think fit. Photographs will also be required – but please don't feel that you must provide these together with an article. Both or either will be equally acceptable! Naturally all contributions included in the book will be acknowledged.

As a guide, it would be helpful if the write up could include the following details:

Opening times during the year
Access / Conditions
How to get there/ Parking (include OS 6 figure reference, and a map if you like)
Key species
Best time to visit during the year
Distance of walk
Description of walk
Other species/details of interest

Please send your description(s) by email or post to me at
