Field Trips

Dynamic Butterfly Field Trips:

Some of the field trips for 2008 will be arranged at short notice a couple of days in advance of the coming weekend.  I will take into account how the season is going, the projected forecast for the weekend, and any suggestions from the membership. I will then email out to all subscribers the details for the weekend and you can then choose to join me, or otherwise. This is to allow for changes in the season and weather to make the most of what is around at the time. If you want to be informed and participate in selecting these events please get in touch with me by using the following email address ( butterflies@andrewdaw.co.uk ) that I have set up explicitly for this.  Please send all communications on other matters to my normal email address shown at the back of the newsletter.

All Field Trips before 18 th May will be "Dynamic Field Trips" (see above).

Field trips

Meetings will start at the time indicated in the individual event description.  Some events may continue into the afternoon so a packed lunch is advisable.

If the weather is uncertain, please contact the leader on the phone number given, preferably the evening before (especially if I'm leading), but no later than 9am on the day.

All map numbers refer to the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey Landranger series.

DEER TICKS are becoming increasingly common. As they can carry Lyme disease, it is advisable to wear coverings over the legs.

Dogs should not be brought to meetings.

At the moth nights, people should bring a torch each and wear UV protective glasses if they have them.  They should also wrap up warmly; it can be surprisingly cold even on a quiet summer's night, and consider bringing a seat.

Butterfly Conservation does not accept liability for damage or personal injury incurred at field meetings.
