I bumped into Robin Griffiths who told me where he had seen a white letter. I stood near the tree and saw a WLH twice each time flying under the tree and then disappearing in the undergrowth. What was more interesting was the number of purple hairstreak around me. Coming down from the oak above and mainly flying low over the ground or landing on the path. I have put a count of half a dozen but they must have passed me 20 times, how many were the same butterflies I don't know.
