Orange-tip (2)

Red Admiral (1)

Peacock (5)

Humming-bird Hawk-moth (1)

9.45 - 11.45 (most sightings before 10.45 when it clouded over - only resting Bs seen after that.) Whoopee - my first OT of the year. What a joy to see. Spring suddenly feels for real, and even the regular explosions coming from the direction of Salisbury Plain and accompanying reminder of the mess the world is currently drifted away. Such a wonderful creature. Mind you, after 5 minutes running up and down the woodland edge in pursuit, hoping for a photograph, only to see it disappear over a hedgerow - well, I was reminded how bloody annoying they can be at times. Fortunately another more obliging individual seen a little later got them back into my good books.

Since when are Hummingbird Hawkmoths on the wing in March? When I got home Sarah said she had also seen one in the garden.
