13.00 - 14.00. Middleton Down comes up trumps again for Clouded Yellow! Surprisingly reliable at this time of year. Possibly a third seen. Two passed me from behind chasing along the slopes of Lime Kiln Bottom, and shortly after they had disappeared from view another passed from behind. Large Whites include mating pair. I felt slightly guilty enjoying the butterflies and late-flowering wild-flowers, whilst a small group from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust were hard at work clearing the scrub.
